Sonic teen ragers Geoff Uhrhane and Mitch Evans come into this weekend’s second round of the 2009 Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at Symmons Plains Raceway with an excellent build up and preparation for the event.
Both impressed with stout performances at Sandown Motor Raceway last weekend in a one-off State level appearance that offered a double whammy for the sensational young Queenslander and Kiwi alike.
“It was a great opportunity on two levels for us,” says Sonic Motor Racing Services Principal Michael Ritter, “Mitch and Geoff got to test for our event at Sandown later in the year and they also got some more seat time for Tassie.”
South Aussie Formula Ford series leader Nick Percat opted not to contest the event and instead focus on his efforts to wrap up the first three rounds of the 09’ Championship at Symmons.
“Nick’s in great form,” admits Ritter, “and Mitch and Geoff were both really impressive at Sandown. We should be really strong at Symmons.”
The young Sonic trio are currently first (Percat) third (Evans) and sixth (Uhrhrane) in the Championship points as Symmons Plains looms.
“I’m looking forward to Tassie,” Percat commented after dominating at Winton, “our car speed is good and I feel good every time we go out. I can’t wait until we get out there.”
That optimism could be a worrying thing for rivals of the Sonic Motor Racing Services team…
