For the past two years Nick Foster has been juggling his schooling commitments at John Paul College along with racing in the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship.
With less than six months remaining in his schooling the Brisbane teenager has elected to put his racing commitments on hold to enable him to put all of his energy into his studying before returning to the track full-time in 2010.
“When I first started Formula Ford it was always a deal that I made with my parents, if at anytime my study started to suffer that the racing would have to be put on hold – especially in year 12,” said Foster.
“While my studies haven’t dropped significantly, you only get one crack at year 12 so I want to make sure I give it everything I’ve got.”
Depending on his study commitments Foster hasn’t ruled out the option of competing in selected State Level events, or even the Australian Championship rounds in his home state of Queensland.
“There may be a couple of windows where the study isn’t that heavy where I could possibly slip in a couple of low-pressure state events, or even the Queensland rounds of the National Championship,” said Foster.
“If that can happen it would be great, if not it will make me even more eager to get back behind the wheel next year.”
Earlier this month Foster recorded his first championship points finish of his 2009 campaign with an eighth place finish in race one after qualifying ninth fastest at the Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.
