Lloyd makes History in F4

Jordan Lloyd has secured himself a place in history by becoming the round winner of Australian FIA F4 in Townsville on the weekend.  The massively anticipated CAMS / Jayco backed class took to the streets with all the agression and tight racing we have come to expect from the young Aussie drivers who are looking to step up in their motorsport careers.

Lloyd took pole in qualifying after setting the pace in practice, and looked to be in a comfortable position going into race 1.  But as can happen, things did not go to plan, and Jordan overshot turn 2 on the first lap, relegating him to the back of the 13 car field.  This put young Race Academy driver Will Brown into the first position, and he held his AGI prepared car there for the race, becoming Australia's first F4 race winner!

After the scutineers relegated Thomas Randle and his Dream Motorsport F4 to the rear of the grid for race 1, Thomas made his way forward to 6th position in that race, and with the top six reverse grid in place for race 2, Thomas started from pole and fought a hard race with Jordan Lloyd, who had quickly made his way back to the front, and a dominant Jimmy Vernon.

Vernon lead the race from the start, but with the chequered flag in sight was unfortunately taken out by a hard charging Randle.  This devistated Jimmy's AGI car, and his chances for a win over the weekend.  Randle was again on the receiving end of a stewards rebuke, and took away a 30 second penelty for his part in the incident.  the end result was a win for the Team BRM prepared car of Jordan Lloyd with AGI's Nick Rowe and Team BRM's Harry Hayek in close proximity.

The final race for the weekend loomed large with all the main contenders in the battle for the trophies.  Lloyd took advantage of another fantastic start and made no mistake to take a dominant win.  The interest was in the battle for second with Drew Ridge in his Team BRM F4 taking the place from a very fast Jimmy Vernon.

The racing was amazingly close with the new Mygale F4 cars showing a great ability for overtaking and late braking, a recipe for great racing in any mans language!
