Fast Kiwi Andre Heimgartner will be behind the wheel of the Erebus Academy Mygale F3 for the City of Darwin Cup later this month.
Heimgartner moves into the prized F3 drive following former driver Jack Le Brocq's full-time promotion to the team's GT program following his outstanding debut at Phillip Island last month.
Heimgartner, currently running in both the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series and the NZ V8 Super Tourer class, is a two-time Mygale NZ Formula Ford Champion and has also competed in Australian Formula Ford.
Heimgartner will be looking to follow in the footsteps of former Mygale drivers including current GP2 driver Mitch Evans.
"I really have to thank Erebus and Mygale for the opportunity," said Heimgartner.
"Mitch went from driving a Mygale in Formula Ford through to F3 and now he's one of the up and coming drivers on the international scene.
"When you look at what drivers like Mitch, Jack, Richie Stanaway, Nick Percat and James Moffat have done you can see how important those steps on the ladder are.
"I'm really excited to get this opportunity to drive the Mygale F3 with Erebus and will be looking to make every post a winner."
Erebus Motorsport General Manager Barry Ryan was pleased to welcome Heimgartner to the Erebus family through the Academy program.
"With Jack stepping up to the GT program in our Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 we looked around with the help of Greg Woodrow from Mygale to find the best possible replacement for the F3 and we couldn't be happier to have signed Andre," said Ryan.
"He's a great young talent with a very level head which fits in perfectly with the Erebus brand, and he has a great relationship with Mygale which will help in developing the car to its absolute potential.
"We're looking forward to getting to Darwin and letting Andre show what he can do."
