jake-pi-sundayReigning Victorian Formula Ford Champion Jake Fouracre has made a stunning debut into the F3 ranks with a second place finish in Race Two and a third in class for the weekend at Phillip Island.

The final round of the F3 Australian Drivers Championship threw up a challenging set of conditions at the F3 rookie, but he handled all with a confidence that belied his inexperience in the 'wings and slicks' category.

After a sixth place finish in Race One on Saturday the heavens opened just prior to the start of Race Two held on Sunday morning. Starting from sixth on the grid Fouracre made a blinding start to be third place at the end of lap one. The young Victorian then hunted down and passed outgoing series Champion Chris Gilmour and held off the advances of this year's series winner James Winslow to secure second place, Mygale's best ever result in it's limited time in the F3 series.

"To be honest I could have pushed harder but by the time I got into second Hayden was a long way up the road and I couldn't have caught him," Fouracre said.

"The car was faultless, the conditions were pretty challenging but it didn't step out on me once throughout the entire race."

Unfortunately for Fouracre he stalled the car at the start of Race Three and lost touch with the leaders, eventually finishing in eighth after a lonely race, but his results were still good enough to give him third for the round.

Mygale boss Greg Woodrow was rapt with the performance of Fouracre and the M-07 chassis.

"Jake has done a tremendous job all weekend," Woodrow said.

"He's driven with a remarkably level head, especially during the wet race, and he's given us some great feedback on the car which we'll look at in our debrief.

"He's driven very well, especially considering he has only had one day in the car before this weekend - we couldn't be happier with the job he's done this weekend."
