Fouracre steps up to F3 with Mygale

4acre-f3-12011 Victorian Formula Ford Champion Jake Fouracre will make the transition to wings and slicks when he makes his debut in the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship at Phillip Island next weekend.

Fouracre will drive the Mygale M-07/Mercedes that made its debut at Darwin during round four of the championship with reigning Australian Formula Ford Champion Cameron Waters taking a podium in the relatively untested machine.

Fouracre last competed during the opening round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Albert Park and is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.

"It's a great opportunity for me to get some time in another class of car," Fouracre said.

"I'm under no illusions that we're going to go there and win, but if we could be around the top five or so then I think we would have done a good job.

"Cameron Waters proved that the Mygale has good pace so that is an achievable goal for us.

"We tested car for the first time at Winton this Friday and now we're looking forward to Phillip Island.

"I haven't done a lot of racing this year but I know the track well so it will all be about getting comfortable with the limits of the Mygale chassis."

Mygale boss Greg Woodrow was pleased to give another young driver the opportunity to progress a step in their motorsport career.

"This year has really just been a toe in the water exercise for us as far as Formula 3 goes," Woodrow said.

"But it's confirmed our belief that the Mygale chassis would be a competitive machine in Australia and allowed us to give a couple of young drivers some experience in an F3 car.

"We've just announced a program where we'll give the top Mygale drivers in the Australian and Victorian Formula Ford Championship an F3 test at the end of the year so we're really trying to push the fact that you can start in a Mygale and move through a number of levels in your career with us."
