Welcome to Mygale AustraliaLaunching onto the Australian market in 1995, Mygale won its first Australian Formula Ford Championship with Greg Ritter in 1999. Back to back championships came, this time with Luke Youlden at the controls, winning in 2000. In 2001 Jamie Whincup launched his motor racing career in the Mygale Formula Ford with a third place in the Australian Formula Ford Championship. After leaving the Australian Formula Ford championship between 2002 and 2005, Mygale won on debut in 2006 at the Oran Park Australian Championship round, with the only Mygale in the field. The chassis went on to win three of the next five rounds in 2006. 2007 saw Sonic Motor Racing Services take the unprecendented move of switching to the dominant Mygale chassis after ten years under the Van Dieman banner. Sonic won on debut with Tim Blanchard at the 2007 Clipsal 500, leading the Championship from the first race. Winning Mygale's third Australian Formula Ford Championship at Phillip Island that year. In 2008, Mygale took 2nd and 3rd in the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship with Nick Percat and Kristian Lindbom (both with Sonic Motor Racing Services). And it was Mygale Australia's own Andrew Beams that won the Victorian CAMS Formula Ford Championship. 2008 also saw Mygale enter the New Zealand racing scene with TSR Racing. The team and chassis dominated the NZ Championship, setting numerous lap records, race wins and round wins. The year culminated when, on debut for driver and chassis, young gun Richie Stanaway took the New Zealand Championship in scintillating fashion at the final round, capping off another successful year for Mygale. 2009 has seen further expansion of the Mygale chassis in Australia, with multiple Australian Formula 3 Champions 'Team BRM' re-entering the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Championship with 3 of the latest SJ09a chassis. |
